Meet Fraser Bruce, a NCOTY 2020 Finalist

As a proud sponsor of the National Chef of the Year, we wanted to do something to help the chefs on their journey. So... we decided to give all the semi-finalists a FREE pair of their WearerTech shoe of choice to help them through the hours of cooking and pressure...

We've caught up with one of the finalists, Fraser Bruce about his thoughts about the competition as well as how he's finding his WearerTech shoes. Ben is currently running Halsetown Inn, a dining pub in St Ives, Cornwall. It is based in a beautiful area that offers some of the best produce available in the UK. They create the menu using the freshest local and seasonal ingredients that are on offer - fish caught from local day boats and meat from farms in teh surrounding area. A really strong ethos for being sustainable and ethically sourced. See what he has to say...

Feelings ahead of the final...

I'm really looking forward to the finals in October. I'm so happy to get to this stage so I'm not putting too much pressure on myself. I want to enjoy the experience and hopefully I can repeat what I did at the semi-finals and produce 3 dishes that please the judges.

Top tips for managing the pressure...

Managing pressure is different for everybody. I'm a very calm person so that translates to my day-to-day in the kitchen. We listen to music and have a relaxed atmosphere where I work, however everyone knows their jobbs and are serious about what we are doing so when we get busy it steps up a gear and we get on with it. I've only ever been productive this way. Applying it to the competition I just try to stay calm and focus on what I know I can do.

Fraser's favourite WearerTech shoe...

My favourite WearerTech shoe is the Relieve as they are genuinely comfortable, but also have the look and feel of a modern trainer. It feels more fashionable and relevant.

Comfort like a trainer...

They have provided my feet with comfort like a trainer but with the benefit of non-slip sole for the kitchen.

Thinking about getting a pair?

Go and check out the website, there is a design for everyone, they're comfortable and they look good too.
